Spanish consulates and embassies welcome and sometimes even require insurance from a Spanish company. And when applying directly in Spain, it is a requirement to have one

It is suitable for the initial application for a D visa at the Spanish Consulate in your country, for the initial residence (provided that the insured person has been in Spain for less than 3 months) and for the extension of residence in Spain
